July 6 - Villefranche (Nice & Eze), France

We are still in France and at the port of Villefrance, which is a quaint town.

However, the residences look like castles.

And of course there is a Fort here and a harbor

I went on an excursion to Nice and Eze Village.
Pictures on our way to Eze, which is a Medieval Village that the Greeks originally populated back around 200 BC.

It was so crowded, it was hard to appreciate the history of the village. However, I loved it. Here's the Entrance

I even found some great art work when we were touring. So I headed back to the shop during our free time and it only took me 3 wrong turns to find it. When I finally did, it was closed for lunch. Here is the art work I liked, but was unable to buy.

Then it was on to Nice. We did Nice second because the tour guide said they were doing the "rookie" Tour de France. The actual Tour de France in ending in Nice on July 29th. I can't believe how crowded it's going to be because it was certainly crowded today.

Our first stop was the Seven Statues of the Massena Square. These seven characters sitting on poles represent the seven continents. At night they are illuminated in changing colors.

At the other end of the plaza is the Sun fountain and Apollo, with his crown of 4 horses.

Nice is the central part of the French Riviera and the symbol is a Blue Chair.
