July 1 - Civitavecchia, Italy

We ported in Civitavecchia, Italy, because this is as close to Rome as a cruise ship can get. Rome and the Colosseum and the Forum are a world wonder and part of the world cruise package. I've been to Rome too many times and didn't want to ride a bus 1.5+ hours each way to see what I've already seen.

But not to worry, I got my pin and my certificate

Also I stayed in Civitavecchia, the last time I did a transatlantic, so I pretty much knew my way around. However I had never been to Terme Taurine, also known as the Taurine Baths. It is a large elaborate ancient Roman baths complex. It was built on a hill overlooking Civitavecchia during the Roman Republican era in 86BC. They were built over thermal Sulphur springs.
