June 26 - Kotor, Montenegro

Kotor, Montenegro is way, way back in what appears to be a fjord. It's not really a fjord, but rather a unique harbor carved by a river.

Pictures of our morning arrival. Yes, I was up at 6:00am to experience this.
Coming into town, you can see why they named the area Montenegro - Black Mountain

Our Lake of the Rock Church (Man-made island) and St. George's (natural island)

We tendered into Kotor and then it was off on a Montenegro highlights tour. First we headed up the Lovcen mountains on a windy and curvy road with 25 switchbacks. And got some incredible distant view of Kotor.

Where we ended up in the Village of Njegusi,

and went to the restaurant, Zora. Where they made their own local sandwich of smoked Procett (local for prosciutto), cheese and handmade bread, with a glass of the local wine.

They smoke their own Procett in small smoke houses using only birch work

We were entertained as we ate and drank.

Then it was back down the hill past the "Old Road",

and supposedly we could see Albania, beyond the lake. Yes it's hard to see

Then we arrive to the town of Cetinje, where we saw a chapel and cemetery

and visited the King Nikola (last monarch of Montenegro from 1860 to 1918) Museum.

We did a drive-by of Budva, the Montenegro Riviera.

We were then dropped off outside of the walled city of Kotor, where I wandered around for a little bit. Here are the pictures. 2nd pic is a bronze model of the town

When I arrived as opposed to when I left
