December 29 - Sushi Making at Izumi's

Today, I took a class at Izumi, to learn how to make Sushi.

We were required to sign a waiver and agree that we could not take the results to-go. We had to consume them there. Yummy, Yummy!

Here are the ingredients. I'm not fond of Saki, however I kept with an international theme

The class was assembled and given chef's caps

Our chef's name was Elmer and he is from the Philippines

They were kind enough to change out the shrimp for tuna and salmon and they gave us some seaweed paper and a bamboo rolling mat.

Here are the results. Two types of Maki; a California roll with rice on the outside and a spicy tuna roll with 3 square sides and rice on the inside, and two Salmon Nigiris

We then learn how to make Temaki, or better known as hand helds

Results and initial plating.

The Chef's final plating

And My final plating. Not too bad!

We are all now offical Sushi Chefs and we have the certificate to prove it

Thanks guys, it was fun!!!! And did I mention nummy, nummy.
