August 27 - New Plan

It's a sea day and we were supposed to be heading to Nuuk, Greenland. However due to weather we are now heading directly to St John's, Newfoundland. And because of the itinerary change they added Halifax, Nova Scotia as a new port.

Today I went to Chef's Table with 9 of my friends and 4 additional people.
The four sitting closest to the camera were newbies. From left to right, Greg, Kathy, Mike, Me, Bob, Eileen, Lety, Pam, Teresa, Randy, Randy, Angela, Tom and Judy. 

Chef's Table is when they do a 6 course meal with wine pairing

We started with very thin Scallop Carpaccio, then onto Smoked Tomato Soup,

followed by Maine Lobster Salad, 

and Roasted Bronzini and then a Filet Mignon 

and finally "The World". A chocolate and peanut butter dessert. Yummy, Yummy 

Fun was had by All, and now I have 4 new friends

    If you have time - and can find it - Split Crow Pub in Halifax. My sister and I walked forever in the rain, but we found it! :-)

April 7 - Forbidden City, Beijing, China

After 40 years, I finally made it to China! And I'm going to walk on the Great Wall. Wohoo! But first we are going to The Forbidden City. We ported in Tianjin, and were greeted with a heartfelt welcome from the Chinese government.  They provided entertainment, including the revered Dragon Dance (the dancers in blue), which I caught on video.  And to no surprise and they caught everything on CCTV.  As I was watching the entertainment, the drone was literally in my face. And later when I headed out on the excursion, the film crew followed me. If you see me, please forward me the link.  It was quite smoggy in Tianjin, so my pictures may be a little blurry. We found out later that the Chinese government moved all smog producing factories out of Beijing and into Tianjin, to clean up the air for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. March 5 - Bay of Islands, New Zealand

Our 2nd port in New Zealand was the Bays of Islands. It's an area of Northern New Zealand and made up of 144 islands. I headed out on an excursion that took us to The Kawiti Marea Caves, also know as Waiomio Glowworm Cave. They are caves, which are lit up by glowworms. Their bioluminescence attracts the insects they feed on. The hungrier they are the brighter they are. Here are some pics outside the cave, I was the lantern girl. We couldn't take any pictures inside. I can assure you it was a unique and awesome experience. Besides the glow worms, you could see the wonderful stalactite and stalagmite formations.   Here are some unauthorized pictures of the caves and glowworms                   We then passed the Waitangi grounds in Paihia, where the first signatures where penned on the Treaty of Waitangi. February 2 - Ground Hog Day & Build a Boat

It's Ground Hog Day, so of course I went to see the movie with the same name. I finally got my hair done. It's a little flat, I'll fluff it up tomorrow. Then it was time for the 'Build a Boat' Competition. The boats could be constructed from any materials you could find. They were only allowed to have wind and water propulsion. They launched from one side of the pool and had to make it over to the other side. I did not participate....this time.
