August 18 - Amsterdam, Netherlands

I was awoken to the sounds of seagulls around 6:00am. So I got up to see where we were, considering our arrival into Amsterdam, Netherlands was scheduled between 10:00am and 12:00am. Well, we were in the locks, about three hours from Amsterdam.

Here we are forward and aft, in the locks.

Then I noticed the water rising, hmmmm.

We were told there might be protesters and there were. However, they were only blocking one lock, so we were backing out to enter the other lock.

We had backed up about half way when another van full of protesters showed up and blocked the second lock. We waited for about an hour and then headed back out to sea. And we proceeded to treat this as another sea day.

Finally around 3 O'clock we were told the protesters had been physically removed and we were clear to enter. Here we are entering.

The graffiti says 'He, He, Ho, Ho cruise ship have got to go and, 'Eat the rich' (I'm not sure what that means, maybe it's a Dutch thing)

Here are some sights along the Amstel up to Amsterdam.

And we arrived, a little late, however we are here
