August 14 - Haugesund, Norway

Last night I was up a couple of times to try to catch the Northern Lights. My camera techniques are not much to be desired. And while it was extremely hard to see the lights with the naked eye, my friend caught these pictures. Aren't they beautiful.

Mine on the other hand, need serious work. I have 2 more nights to try again

We arrived in Haugesund, Norway and it was overcast with light showers, however we ventured out anyway. This is a view from our Ship.

Here is the local church. Outside and inside

I really like the local architecture.

This is also the place where they build rigs of all kinds

There was a bridge we had to cross before we got to town. And, yes, we were able to conquer the incline.

Here are the views from the top of the bridge. See the kayakers?

Now that's a boat garage!

There were fun things to see around the town.
 Postal workers

Old telephone booths turned into  libraries

Down Town and Pedestrian walkway. They have a Film Festival - who knew?

Statues, monuments, etc.

Speaking of statues, we can't forget the Marilyn Monroe statue. Supposedly Norma Jean's ancestors came from here. However, she wasn't a natural blonde, hmmmm!

Time out for drinks, love that they have seat/leg warmers. Lety had an excursion

Cool Structure/Architecture

Yes, another bridge
