August 1 - Riga, Latvia

 Here we are in Riga, Latvia. The city was right by the port so we did a walkabout.
We were on the hunt for not only historical sights, but fun sights like;

 "The Ghost"

"The Cat"

"The First Christmas Tree"
The first written record (1510) of a decorated Christmas Tree come from Riga. Men of the local merchants' guild decorated a tree with artificial roses, danced around it in the market place and then set fire to it. The rose was used for many years and is considered to be a symbol of the Virgin Mary.
