August 27 - New Plan

Image
It's a sea day and we were supposed to be heading to Nuuk, Greenland. However due to weather we are now heading directly to St John's, Newfoundland. And because of the itinerary change they added Halifax, Nova Scotia as a new port. Today I went to  Chef's Table with 9 of my friends and 4 additional people. The four sitting closest to the camera were newbies. From left to right, Greg, Kathy, Mike, Me, Bob, Eileen, Lety, Pam, Teresa, Randy, Randy, Angela, Tom and Judy.  Chef's Table is when they do a 6 course meal with wine pairing We started with very thin Scallop Carpaccio, then onto Smoked Tomato Soup, followed by Maine Lobster Salad,  and Roasted Bronzini and then a Filet Mignon  and finally "The World". A chocolate and peanut butter dessert. Yummy, Yummy  Fun was had by All, and now I have 4 new friends

August 26 - Qaqortoq, Greenland

Image
Qaqortog, Greenland is a small cute town. Although not as small as Olden, Norway. Qaqortoq has a population of 3,050, ten times the size of Olden. And as you can tell the town was built on a hill I loved the architecture There was a beautiful lake/reservoir, which flowed into a babbling brook.  There were Stones of some significance, fountains and artwork And the Dunkel beer was delicious There was fog, which made for great pictures  Again, my geography is challenged

August 25 - Prins Christian Sund

Image
Wow is all I can say. Prins Christian Sund (Sound) is different than either the Chilean Fords or the Antarctica, however it is truly beautiful in its own right. And the colors were so rich and vibrant. I'm not going to commentate. Just enjoy the photos and, yes, reality is way better than the pictures. Today was the 21st Birthday of the Serenade of the Seas. And there was cake. And surprisingly there was a ship shaped boat spotted in the Sund A sound and a fjord are both valleys that have been flooded by the sea, but they have different origins and characteristics: A Sound is a smaller body of water that's usually connected to a sea or ocean.   Sounds can be inlets, sea channels, ocean channels, or lagoons.   They're similar to fjords in that they're both valleys filled with seawater, but sounds are usually formed by flooding river valleys, while fjords are formed by flooding glacial valleys.   Sounds often have less narrow topography and more gentle slopes than fjords.
