June 29 - Siracusa, Sicily, Italy
Here we are at our only port in Sicily. We ported in Siracusa. I had plans to walk around the town with Diana, however I woke up and my knee didn't want to work. After a couple hundred mgs or Ibuprofen and a Chinese pain patch from Diana, I was good to go! We caught a Tuk Tuk and headed around Ortygia.
First stop was the Temple of Apollo.
We saw the Fountain of Diana, Greek goddess of the Hunt.
The Piazza Duomo. Last picture is the original foundation of the church
The Fountain of Aretusa, a fresh water nymph
Fort Vigliena,
and Point Umbertino
Various other parts of the city
Beaches aren't very big here on Sicily
As we sailed away, we went by Mount Etna. It was puffing steam
