July 24 - Normandy, France

Today was a very emotional day. We headed to Normandy, France, where the D-Day invasion took place, on a private excursion.

Here are some farm houses and residences on the way

Our first stop was Omaha Beach, we saw a gunnery bunker

and we actually walked on the beach where thousands died, in the name of freedom

Then it was onto Utah beach,

and this statue really emphasized the bravery and loss

We took a time out for lunch and a beer

Then it was on to the German Cemetery (which was the temporary American Cemetery)

and finally we made it to the American Cemetery

And the wall of the known Soldiers, who had died, however their remains could not be found. So very many names.

On a lighter note, here is a Cool Structures. A bridge crossing the River Seine.
