May 29 - Luderitz, Namibia

I woke up this morning around 5ish to the sound of a horn. I figured we got into port a little early so I rolled over and went back to sleep. Well, every 3 minutes the horn blew, and it took me a couple of times to realize - FOG! My excursion to Halifax Island was at 7:15, so I might as well get up. When I looked outside the fog was so thick, I couldn't even see the water 8 stories below me. I turned on the map channel and saw we were still somewhat heading into the harbor, so I decided to get ready. However at 6:30ish we were now heading north again. Hmmmmm? I headed out the door at 7:00 and that's when the Captain announced we would not be stopping at Lüderitz as it was tender port and the fog was expected to be thick all day, which made tendering unsafe.

Tender Ports we have missed;
Devil's Island, French Guiana
Port Stanley, Falkland Islands
Punta Arenas, Chile
La Digue Island, Seychelles
Luderitz, Namibia

We also missed Antsiranana (Diego Suarez) Madagascar, because of a Cyclone.
