June 25 - Dubrovnik, Croatia
I really like Croatia, but it appears each town has more and more people. Dubrovnik was the site of the filming of Game of Thrones and the crowds were ridiculous! I went on a City Sights excursion and thank goodness our tour guide had never watched Game of Thrones, so he only pointed out the obvious locations. My friend Diana went on another excursion and that's all they went to, and talked about. I guess that is why it was called Current Dubrovnik Highlights.
Old town Dubrovnik is a fully walled city, although some of the residents have moved outside the wall. First we went to a lookout point for that postcard perfect shot.
And at the lookout point you could see the Lokrum Island. No one lives there anymore, however it use to have a castle and a monastery. See the tiny white dot up against the island that's the yacht pictured below
As we left the point the bus had to find somewhere to turn around as it was a single lane narrow road. On the way you could see the Bosnia and Herzegovina border with Croatia.
Then was back to the Old town for a walking tour.
Then we headed to the the Dubrovnik Cathedral, which had the treasury as a part of it. We weren't allowed to take pictures inside the treasury, so all I got was the entrance (last picture).
A friend however got some shots of the inside. The treasury is were they keep the priceless artifacts, relics and ornamental procession regalia. I'm not sure if you can zoom in to see that some of the relics are actual legs, arms and hand of saints, covered in gold. Not that's just creepy
We went to the Gothic Palace - which was also the Dominican Monastery
