June 17 - Corfu, Greece

Hello, from Corfu, Greece. Kerkira, Greece to be exact.

Views (islands of Corfu) as we came into the port

Highest Point on Corfu

Today we went on a Corfu Island Sights excursion. First we headed the town of Lakones, which is on the west side of the island, way up in the mountains. The town's roads were very, vey narrow. How the bus got through is beyond me!

We ended up at Bella Vista Café.

And the sights were phenomenal.

And then it was time for some Baclava and a beer.

From there we head to the Lazaris Kumquat Factory for a little liquor tasting. The creamy Limoncello was nummy, nummy. I should have bought some. The kumquat flavor, was not my favorite. BTW a kumquat is a very small orange type fruit. They offered us some gin and a decorative glass as a memento.

Then it was onto the actual town of Corfu, where we saw the New Fort (Venetian Fort). Notice the use of the moat - boat docking.

Leaving Corfu, (see the old fort)

and Albania was on our starboard side

And a Greek legend mentions that when the angry Poseidon set eyes on the boat given to Odysseus as a gift by the Phaiakes for his return to Ithaca, he, the god, touched it with his trident and with his divine powers transformed it into a rock.
It doesn't look like a boat to me.
