April 30 - Colombo, Sri Lanka

We're in Colombo, Sri Lanka (Ceylon) and this time I had an excursion, so I got off the ship and saw some sights. It was a panoramic bus ride, which is basically a bus trip for two hours around the town, of which you never get off the bus.

May favorite site was the Lotus Tower


This town has Muslims, Catholics, Protestants, Buddhist, Jews and Hindus. All who live in harmony, even after the Easter Sunday 2019 bombing, of St Anthony's Shrine and other parts of the country. Sri Lanka’s minority Christian community, which accounts for less than 10% of the country’s total population of 21.4 million, appeared to be the main target of the coordinated attacks.

This place has some major traffic. Sue and I were going to attempt another try at getting our nails done, after the excursion. However we both got off the bus and said 'No Way, were we going back into town'

There was this unique building. The architect was intrigued by the buildings of Washington DC and designed this one building with all the notable aspects.

April 7 - Forbidden City, Beijing, China

After 40 years, I finally made it to China! And I'm going to walk on the Great Wall. Wohoo! But first we are going to The Forbidden City. We ported in Tianjin, and were greeted with a heartfelt welcome from the Chinese government.  They provided entertainment, including the revered Dragon Dance (the dancers in blue), which I caught on video.  And to no surprise and they caught everything on CCTV.  As I was watching the entertainment, the drone was literally in my face. And later when I headed out on the excursion, the film crew followed me. If you see me, please forward me the link.  It was quite smoggy in Tianjin, so my pictures may be a little blurry. We found out later that the Chinese government moved all smog producing factories out of Beijing and into Tianjin, to clean up the air for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. March 5 - Bay of Islands, New Zealand

Our 2nd port in New Zealand was the Bays of Islands. It's an area of Northern New Zealand and made up of 144 islands. I headed out on an excursion that took us to The Kawiti Marea Caves, also know as Waiomio Glowworm Cave. They are caves, which are lit up by glowworms. Their bioluminescence attracts the insects they feed on. The hungrier they are the brighter they are. Here are some pics outside the cave, I was the lantern girl. We couldn't take any pictures inside. I can assure you it was a unique and awesome experience. February 2 - Ground Hog Day & Build a Boat

It's Ground Hog Day, so of course I went to see the movie with the same name. I finally got my hair done. It's a little flat, I'll fluff it up tomorrow. Then it was time for the 'Build a Boat' Competition. The boats could be constructed from any materials you could find. They were only allowed to have wind and water propulsion. They launched from one side of the pool and had to make it over to the other side. I did not participate....this time. This one got 3rd Place.           Awww, this one didn't make it.           Awww, neither did this one.                This one got 2nd Place.                😞, didn't make it.         This one used a water propulsion system, but it didn't make it.                     This was the winner.
