April 26 - Penang, Malaysia

We ported at Georgetown (George Town) the city center of Penang, Malaysia.

We went to the Thai Reclining Buddha Temple. It is reclining because that is the last state, before death.

And there was a Burmese Temple right across the street

Apparently the Burmese like turtles

We toured the Pinang Peranakan Mansion. The Peranakan Chinese are an ethnic group defined by the genealogical descent from the first waves of Southern Chinese settlers to maritime Southeast Asians (primarily British at the time), known as Nanyang. They were highly revered, as they genetically, they were of two cultures.

There was a Chinese side of the house and a Colonial side of the house. Prince Charles and Camelia visited this mansion.

They had lots of material things

And we visited the Khoo Kongsi, The most beautiful Chinese Clan House outside of China

Walls of achievement - they were lawyers, doctors, engineers, etc.

Rooms in the House.

Opera House, across the courtyard

We also got to try some local snacks, chocolate, tea and coffee. Although the Ice Tea and snacks we good, I didn't buy anything.
