April 24 - Singapore

Singapore, officially the Republic of Singapore, is an island country and a city-state in maritime Southeast Asia.
This is what greeted us as we came into port, the Iconic, Marina Bay Sands Building.

I headed out on a four culture excursion. First we headed to Mount Faber Peak. It is a mere 100 meters above sea level. The views were nice.

Did you notice my new hat? I got it in Saigon for $2

They had directional markers for the direction you were looking

This is the Symbol of Singapore

You could take a cable car up to the peak's restaurant. We drove.

They had these plaques depicting the evolution of Singapore

Then it was off to Little India

We drove down Orchard Road, which is just like Ginza in Hong Kong or Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Lots of high end store, so no pictures.

Then it was onto China Town,

where I visit the Golden Buddha Temple

We did a slow drive by of the Raffles Hotel Singapore, located on Beach Drive. No other establishment epitomizes the island's colonial history better than this hotel. It is named after Singapore's founder, Sir Stamford Raffles and was once beachfront. Now due to reclaimed land it is about a mile inland.

Residences, Low-Rise and High-Rise

Churches

And of course more of the Marina Bay Sands Towers. They have already started the 4th tower
