February 20 - Preparing for Africa
OK, I've resigned myself to the fact that the Serenade of the Seas is definitely going to Africa, whether it be leisurely or expeditiously. I, on the other hand, am not convinced I will we going with it. I am considering option #3. Getting off the boat and doing a tour of Jordan/Petra and Egypt. And then meeting back up with the ship. Folks have been getting off and then later meeting up with the ship throughout the adventure.
However, I must be prepared. So I spent the day finding a travel clinic, where I could get a Yellow Fever vaccination. I hadn't needed it up until now, as no country on our original itinerary REQUIRED it. It was recommended but not required. Now I may be going to countries that won't allow me to enter without it. I was lucky enough to find Jennifer's Travel Clinic, and she had an opening for me. YAY! I headed there first thing and after a check up and a discussion she decide to provide me a waiver (which is acceptable for entry into those countries) as opposed to the vaccination. Come to find out I have a reaction to live virus vaccinations and yellow fever is a one of those. Whew! That was close. There are no adverse reactions from waivers. 😀
The rest of the day was finding different and unique buildings
