December 26 - Fortaleza Brazil

We arrived today in Fortaleza Brazil (Brasil). It's a big city with lots of high-rises on a beautiful 15 mile urban beach.

We were greeted with a rainbow.

I went on a city tour and we saw St. Joseph's Cathedral which is a Catholic Church known as Catedral Metropolintana de Fortaleza. It was closed so we couldn't go in.

We went to the local Handcrafts Central Market, where there was lots of leather, sauces and nuts. Brazil is a large exporter of Cashews

Fortaleza is the city and Ceara is the state. You can see the mall in the background

We went to the State Library. They don't house books there, but rather art and cultural displays. They also have festivals there. I love the Architecture

We saw the working man's Christ the Redeemer, a smaller version of what we are going to see in Rio.

Yes that's bird on his head.

And here are some pics of the beach, fishing boats and other points of interest as we whizzed on by.

Oldest lighthouse in the City. It's been abandoned. Also a piece of art, made of sails in a roundabout.

I wouldn't want to be an electrician in this city.

Tribute to Iracema, a renown indigenous woman, and her white husband Martim
